Compact regulators handle wide-ranging inputs

High-voltage step down DC/DC controllers feature an input voltage range up to 30V, supporting the wide variety of supply rails found in industrial and embedded systems.

New from Sipex Corporation is a family of high-voltage step down DC/DC controllers in 2.9 x 2.8mm TSOT6 packages.

The SP6125, SP6126 and SP6127 regulators feature an input voltage range up to 30V which make them capable of supporting the wide variety of supply rails found in many industrial and embedded systems.

This family is also supported by Sipex's PowerLab online design tool and downloadable spice models.

The 300kHz SP6125, 600kHz SP6126 and 900kHz SP6127 provide engineers a common architecture which allows them to optimise each design for size and efficiency.

These controllers are appropriate for generating a 5 or 3.3V system bus, as well as, providing the 1.xV core voltage for devices such as Altera's Cyclone and Xilinx's Spartan series FPGAs.

The innovative design integrates a complete set of features into a minimum package size.

The internal control loop compensation and true op-amp error amplifier provides fast transient response while minimising external component count.

The input-voltage feed forward voltage mode architecture also ensures stable operation over the entire input voltage range to ensure design reliability.

The SP6125, SP6126 and SP6127 are available in Pb-free, 6-pin 2.9 x 1.6mm TSOT packages specified over the -40 to +125C temperature range.
