Capable of boosting the voltages generated by one- or two-cell Li-ion battery-powered applications, the new MIC2186 PWM control IC from Solid State Supplies has a wide output range of 2.9 to 14V Also able to increase voltages in 3.3, 5 or 12V systems, this high-efficiency component has a powerful 1.6ohm output driver enables the MIC2186 to supply large output currents with the selection of the appropriate proper external mosfets

The MIC2186 can be configured to operate at 100, 200 or 400kHz.

With its fixed frequency PWM architecture and easily synchronised drive, the device is ideal for noise sensitive telecomms applications.

Featuring a low current shutdown mode of 0.5uA and a programmable undervoltage lockout, the MIC2186 also has a manually selectable SKIP mode which improves efficiency in light load situations.

With a precise 1.245V reference output and selectable 50% maximum duty cycle for flyback applications, the 16-pin SOIC package operates within -40 to +85C and is suited for DC power distribution systems, wireless modems, ADSL line cards and SLIC power supplies.
