Networked microprocessors shrink to BGA
New from Solid State Supplies, the NET+20M and NET+50M networked microprocessors feature BGA packaging to reduce their footprint from 28 to 15mm2.
New from Solid State Supplies, the NET+20M and NET+50M networked microprocessors feature BGA packaging to reduce their footprint from 28 to 15mm2 Both the NET+20M and the NET+50 are part of the NetSilicon family of ARM-based, 32bit system-on-chip processors that make up the hardware portion of NetSilicon's NET+Works range of tightly coupled processing hardware and networking software for smart, connected devices

Inductors cut losses in PSU designs
RoHS compliant inductors have an industry standard 4040 footprint and incorporate a three-pin design for improved mechanical stability.
Features of the NET+20M key include a full 32bit ARM7DMI RISC processor; 44MHz clock system, 32bit internal bus and a 10-channel DMA controller.
These features are common to both the NET+20M and NET+50M and both models also incorporate 10/100 MII-based PHY interface, full duplex and half-duplex modes, station, broadcast and multicast address detection and filtering, two fully independent serial ports (UART, HDLC, SPI), programmable timers (two independent timers, watchdog timer and bus timer) and external bus master support.
Additionally, the NET+50 hardware platform, available in PQFP packaging or in BGA, also has an 8Kbyte on-chip cache, increased general purpose I/O: up to 40 programmable I/O pins, up to 32 general purpose input pins; 20 pins with programmable interrupt and ENI (embedded network interface) support, giving 1284 (parallel), ENI, and more GPIO.
Both the NET+20M and NET+50 support NetSilicon's suite of networking software and services.
NetSilicon's NET+Works product family is a fully integrated, tested and production-ready embedded platform comprised of complete hardware, software, real-time operating system (RTOS), network protocols and servers, application programming interfaces (APIs), drivers and utilities fully supported and royalty-free.
By elevating the traditional hardware-only system-on-silicon approach to a tightly coupled "solution-on-chip", NetSilicon is able to give OEMs an out-of-box solution that allows design engineers to reduce development costs, increase focus on product design and meet time-to-market demands.
