Multichannel transceiver claims global
compliance
The new multichannel MICRF506 transceiver is a true single-chip frequency shift keying (FSK) device for use in half-duplex, bidirectional RF links in both Europe and North America.
A true single-chip frequency shift keying (FSK) transceiver intended for use in half-duplex, bidirectional RF links, the new multichannel MICRF506 transceiver from Solid State Supplies is intended for UHF radio equipment in compliance with both the European EN300 220 specification and the North American FCC Part 15.247 and 249 Consisting of a PLL frequency synthesiser and a power amplifier for transmission, the frequency synthesiser has a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a crystal oscillator, dual modulus prescaler, programmable frequency dividers and a phase-detector

The FM24C04 4Kbit FRAM serial memory from Solid State Supplies is ideal for nonvolatile memory applications which require frequent or rapid writing.
An external loop filter gives greater flexibility and can be a simple passive circuit.
The output power of the power amplifier can be programmed to seven levels and when the PLL is in lock, a circuit detects the status.
In receive mode, the PLL synthesiser generates the local oscillator (LO) signal.
The receiver is a zero intermediate frequency (IF) type which makes channel filtering possible with low-power, integrated lowpass filters.
Consisting of a low noise amplifier (LNA) that drives a quadrature mixer pair, the mixer outputs feed two identical signal channels in phase quadrature.
Each channel includes a pre-amplifier, a third-order Sallen-Key RC lowpass filter that protects the following switched-capacitor filter from strong adjacent channel signals, and a limiter.
The main channel filter is a switched-capacitor implementation of a six-pole elliptic lowpass filter.
The cutoff frequency of the Sallen-Key RC filter can be programmed to frequencies of 100, 150, 230 and 340kHz.
Typical applications for the MICRF506 include telemetry, remote metering, wireless controller, remote data repeater, remote control systems, wireless modems and wireless security systems.
