Solid State Supplies has been appointed as a distributor for Santa Clara based manufacturer Catalyst Semiconductor.

Extending its range of design solutions to meet the requirements of increasingly innovative applications, Solid State Supplies has been appointed as a distributor for Santa Clara based manufacturer Catalyst Semiconductor Catalyst is a major memory manufacturer that is now producing a variety of analogue, programmable and mixed-signal devices

Solid State's reputation for being a design based distributor was a major factor in their selection of a company that would be able to introduce their latest offerings into the UK.

Among the new products are digital potentiometers, charge pumps, LED drivers, linear regulators, voltage supervisors and I/O expanders.

One of Catalyst's major successes is in the development and manufacture of LED drivers which have been designed to suit current and future designs in LCDs, automotive instrumentation, industrial equipment and consumer electronics applications.

A recent addition to the product range is a high power, 500mA inductive boost LED driver for movie/flash mode applications.

The CAT4134 offers a fully integrated movie/flash switching function that allows designers to set the exact flash and movie modes required via a single resistor, minimising the need for external circuitry.

Capable of driving up to six white/colour LEDs, the CAT4134 is ideal for increasing efficiency and simplifying the design of industrial video lighting, still camera, flashlight, LCD backlighting and other high-power LED applications.

"Although we are best known as a power semiconductor supplier", commented John Macmichael, Solid State's new Business Development Manager, "this new alliance strengthens our position with our existing customers by providing them with the feature rich components that are now essential to new designs".
