Buck regulators cope with 50V inputs

Two new buck regulators suit applications including industrial supplies from 24 or 36V buses, telecomms with hard 48V buses, EPOS, lead acid battery chargers and automotive telematics.

Comfortably coping with a 50V input, two new buck regulators from Solid State Supplies are ideally suited to a wide range of applications requiring this type of power including industrial use with 24 or 36V bus, telecomms with hard 48V bus, EPOS, lead acid battery chargers and automotive telematics The 3A A8498 is supplied in a low-profile 8-lead SOIC package with an exposed copper slug and offers 8 to 50V input range, soft start, light load regulation, an integrated DMOS switch, adjustable fixed off-time

The device, which is adjustable for 0.8 to 24V output, is fully protected with a 6V undervoltage lockout on the input, both current limit and thermal shut down on the output.

After a thermal shut down, the component starts up again in soft start mode.

For 1.5A use, the A8499 is suited for use in printer power supplies and consumer equipment power supplies.

Still providing the 8 to 50V input range and having the same features, the A8499 is adjustable from 1.2 to 24V output.
