The SST55LD019M NAND controller is tailored to support high-volume applications and is offered in the industry's smallest package.
As the latest device within its successful NAND controller family, the SST55LD019M incorporates SST's SuperFlash technology that contains a built-in Flash file system.
Inclusion of a programmable multi-tasking NAND interface enables rapid support of new NAND Flash components through firmware modifications.
"MLC Flash technology offers designers twice the storage density of traditional single-level cell architectures and has become an attractive choice for many designers looking to increase the density of their solid-state storage solution", said Frank Lin, Vice President of SST's Application Specific Controller Products business line.
"By adding MLC NAND support to our NAND controller family, we are able to provide our customers with a high-performance interface for their high-volume NAND-based consumer applications".
"The performance benefits of our MLC controller provide designers of consumer and portable applications with an alternative to hard disk drives and enable them to utilise NAND Flash for their storage needs".
The SST55LD019M features a high-performance and flexible embedded Flash architecture.
The controller is available in commercial and industrial temperature ranges and is offered in three packaging options; a 14 x 14mm 100-pin TQFP package, a 9 x 9mm 84-ball TFBGA package, and the industry's smallest package, a 6 x 6mm x 0.85mm VFBGA.
With these advanced packaging options, SST is providing its customers the smallest footprint ATA controller solution.
In addition, the SST55LD019M delivers up to 10Mbyte/s sustained read and write performance.
The controller includes dynamic wear levelling and an advanced error correction engine.
Samples of the SST55LD019M are available now.
Pricing starts at US $4.50 in 10,000-unit quantities.
