RCB and MCB in compact easy-to-fit unit

Spelsberg's new KOPP-RCB is a residual current device and miniature circuit breaker combined into one compact easy-to-fit unit.

Spelsberg's new KOPP-RCB is a residual current device and miniature circuit breaker combined into one compact easy-to-fit unit The RCB module offers personal protection from indirect contact and conditional protection in the event of direct contact with live components

Maximum safety is ensured by an innovative tripping mechanism that is triggered in less than a second.

The thermal tripping device used in the new RCB module is a sensitive bimetal snap disc integrated into a magnetic trigger.

It can detect a short circuit or overload and break the failing circuit in less than 0.1 seconds.

Current leakage is measured by a sum current transformer that will break the circuit in less than 0.2 seconds after the current becomes earthed.

The high trip speed of the circuit breaker is essentially a safety feature, but the fast reaction time is also very energy efficient, leading to measurable energy savings in larger applications where multiple units are employed.

When an RCB is tripped, the status of the circuit is obvious at first sight via an optical switch position indicator and a green toggle switch located on the front of the module.

The reset position on the toggle switch indicates an overload, short-circuit or a sum current difference whilst the off position shows that the circuit was broken manually.

Identification of the tripped RCB on a DIN rail is made simple with the additional marking strip track positioned below the visual indicator.

Using a patented fast mounting device, Spelsberg's new RCB is quick and easy to fit.

The unit hooks on to the DIN rail from the top and is aligned simply by sliding it across.

The RCB is locked securely into place by pushing down on an easily accessible plastic rocker.

It can be removed just as quickly by pulling the rocker back up, even within an assembly.

Other innovative features include additional terminals positioned at the same height on the lead-in and lead-out sides of the unit.

The terminals are equipped with combination slot screws providing easy connection from above or below.

This arrangement allows the simultaneous connection of a wiring rail and single wires with cross sections from 1.0 to 25mmė.

This type of fast response, compact RCB is expected to have an immediate take up in telecommunication applications, however, the versatility of this module ensures universal appeal.

The RCBs are all-pole switching, Un 230V AC units with nominal currents ranging from 6A/ 0,03A to 20A/ 0,03A and are available ex-stock from Spelsberg Els UK. Request a free brochure from Spelsberg els UK ...
