Russian DSP software company Spirit has announced the release of highly optimised full duplex acoustic echo canceller (AEC) compliant to ITU-T G.167 The integrated AGC (automatic gain control) function offers reliable overload protection and broad dynamic range

The user can select maximum echo path delay equal to 124 or 252ms, however greater echo delays may also be supported.

The canceller is currently available as an XDAS object in source code or in optimised object code for the TI C54x DSP platform.

The acoustic echo canceller is distinguished by efficient echo suppression and high convergence speed, as well as low processing delay.

It uses modified LMS algorithm in frequency domain.

"The advantages of new acoustic echo canceller are high stability, low resource requirements and robustness", said Andrew Sviridenko, CEO of Spirit.

The acoustic echo canceling algorithm can be ported to any DSP or RISC platform and can be used in a broad range of applications where full duplex voice communication is needed, such as hands-free cellular systems, Internet telephony, audio and video teleconference equipment, voice-controlled embedded devices, speech recognition systems, and more.

It is typically used in conjunction with a linear echo canceller and a voice activity detector/comfort noise generator, all of which are also available from Spirit.

The AEC is fully compliant with the ITU G.167 recommendation.

The code is re-entrant and conforms to TI's eXpressDSP (XDAIS) standard, which makes it easy to integrate with the target platform and other software products.
