DSP-based vocoders use low MIPS and little memory
Moscow-based DSP specialist Spirit has announced the launch of a series of optimised proprietary vocoder solutions in the form of high-quality speech compression algorithms.
Full duplex acoustic echo canceller runs on DSP
Russian DSP software company Spirit has announced the release of highly optimised full duplex acoustic echo canceller (AEC) compliant to ITU-T G.167.
The software successfully overcomes the problems of incoming network jitter and packet losses delivering toll speech quality even in multipoint conversations.
The solution is easily integrated in both wideband and narrowband systems.
In narrowband mode, Spirit NetJet guarantees quality of PSTN telephony or better (8 kHz sampling rate).
Moreover, it brings IP communication to the higher level by supporting 16kHz sampling rate in wideband mode.
The advanced version of the product has a dynamic jitter buffer adapting to network conditions and smoothing variations.
Focused on speech quality Spirit developed NetJet to minimize speech distortions and provide PSTN quality or better in wireless communication.
To overcome typical issues facing IP communication (i.e packet losses) NetJet has two components for eliminating transmission distortions.
Enhanced PLC hides transmission losses in audio systems where signals are encoded, packetized and transmitted over a network, while FEC technology recovers lost packets and minimizes lost information.
Adding extra information to the data stream allows to locate and correct errors in real-time as the data is being received.
This brings down the resultant link error rate to an acceptable level.
"Delivering PSTN or better speech quality at wireless communication is the point Spirit is focused at." - says Andrew Sviridenko, founding CEO of Spirit.
"In complex collaboration systems with a lot of users involved it's extremely important not to miss even a single sound.
It was impossible with usual VoIP systems due to packet losses.
Spirit NetJet handles the problem and makes life-like multipoint conferencing possible".
