Network tests ease technology development
The features introduced on Spirent Landslide, Spirent Protocol Tester and Spirent Abacus 5000 enable the industry to overcome the complexities of testing converged technologies.
Spirent systems will also be used by u-blox field application engineers to enhance customer support.
"Controlled testing is important in any serious GPS receiver development", said Daniel Ammann, head of GNSS Software at u-blox.
"At u-blox we take a very structured approach to testing at each stage, from initial research and development through to production".
"We believe our high product quality is strongly supported by our thorough test approach".
Spirent's GSS6100 is an RF GPS signal generator that simulates a satellite signal in a variety of configurations.
The GSS6100 is typically deployed in a production environment where a quick and controlled test of the GPS is needed to ensure performance is within expected parameters.
Single-channel GPS signal generators are also widely used in RF development environments.
For GPS engine development, multi-channel RF constellation simulators are used to characterise and optimise performance.
u-blox also uses Spirent RF constellation simulators.
"Production testing is a critical element in product quality assurance", said John Pottle, Marketing Director at Spirent's Wireless and Positioning division.
"An efficient and reliable test is the priority for all of our customers, and the GSS6100 is designed specifically for this purpose".
