The features introduced on Spirent Landslide, Spirent Protocol Tester and Spirent Abacus 5000 enable the industry to overcome the complexities of testing converged technologies.

Spirent Communications has added enhancements to its network testing solutions, including Packet Data Gateway (PDG) testing on Spirent Landslide and Bearer Independent Call Control (BICC) protocol testing on Spirent Abacus 5000 Competition and consolidation is forcing service providers and network equipment vendors to expedite the deployment of networking technologies such as IMS and WiMAX, while ensuring the highest quality of service and subscriber experience

The features introduced on Spirent Landslide, Spirent Protocol Tester and Spirent Abacus 5000 enable the industry to overcome the complexities of testing these converged technologies.

"Next-generation network architectures allows users to easily move between networks, be they wireless or wireline".

"However, with this ease of use, come numerous technical challenges", said Andy Huckridge, Director of Next Generation Networks (NGN) Solutions Marketing at Spirent Communications.

"Spirent's NGN test solutions are specifically designed for multi-protocol and multi-application test cases, to ensure faster test cycle times and reduce product development time".

Today's consumers demand access to interactive content at any time, from anywhere and from any device - be it a computer, television set or a PDA.

Ensuring subscribers have access to the services they paid for and at the quality level they expect is critical for next generation network service providers.

Validating the performance of the PDG, which is the entrance point to the mobile core, is essential to successful service delivery.

With the Spirent Landslide PDG testing option, carriers can test for performance and accuracy of secure access to the 3GPP packet data core via the PDG.

Performance testing can be done in the lab, prior to deployment so as to avoid any surprises when new services and applications are rolled out.

Spirent Landslide also allows modelling of the customer experience for secure transmissions.

To deliver interactive content and applications, service providers have to migrate from circuit-switched TDM networks to high-capacity broadband multimedia networks.

A smooth transition is only possible with the accurate performance testing of the BICC protocol by equipment vendors and carriers.

Spirent is introducing BICC protocol testing on the Spirent Abacus 5000, which allows customers to simulate mobile voice traffic to VoIP and PSTN, all within a single test environment.
