More I/O for high-speed PCI measurement
cards
A new option called Extra I/O has been added to the UltraFast family of high-speed measurement and generation PCI boards.
With more than 54 different A/D, D/A and digital I/O cards providing sampling rates to 500Msample/s, the UltraFast family offers the widest selection of high speed measurement and generation PCI boards from a single manufacturer Now a new option called Extra I/O has been introduced that will increase the range of potential applications still further

The UF.7021 is a full-length PCI board with 64 digital input or output channels that can simultaneously capture and replay signals at a maximum sample rate of 125Mbit/s.
While the UltraFast boards may be used as stand-alone oscilloscope, logic analyser and signal generator replacements, in most cases they are part of a larger system in the laboratory or in production test.
Often these systems contain actuators or motors that need to be controlled during the measurement, for example to position a specimen, increase flows or provide safety features.
In some cases it is necessary to be able to read status information provided by other instruments or for the UltraFast board to provide a status signal to other equipment.
Until recently these requirements necessitated the use of additional third-party analogue and digital measurement cards which resulted in increased cost and software complexity.
Now the UltraFast boards can be equipped with a new option called Extra I/O.
The Extra I/O option consists of a small daughterboard that mounts directly onto the UltraFast board.
Two versions are available.
The internal version provides 16 digital I/O channels and is designed for OEM applications where the UltraFast board is part of the customer's product (eg medical equipment, production test system) where the connector cables will be routed internally.
The external version has 24 digital I/O channels and four analogue output channels with 12bit D/A resolution.
It includes an additional PCI slot backplate for external signal connection and is intended for laboratory applications.
