SoC and LCD are perfect mates for chess machine
MonRoi has employed a combination of hardware, software and technical support from Sharp in creating its Chess Manager.
It provides the necessary hardware and software - including boot loaders, drivers, and operating systems - to help engineers reduce overall development costs and speed product time-to-market.
The board includes a core module featuring Sharp's LH7A404 SoC, 4 or 8Mbyte Sharp NOR Flash, and 32Mbyte NAND Flash (for NAND boot option).
It also includes an interface board that features a USB device and USB host, removable media, an Ethernet connector, DIN connectors for audio using codecs on the core module, LEDs, and power supplies.
An LCD modular interface is also available for Sharp LCD displays ranging from 3 to 10.4in.
A separate module optimised for GPS and GPRS within an embedded automotive navigation system is also available.
This module is designed to interface with the LH7A404 development board, as well as future development boards for Sharp products.
Software packaged with the LH7A404 development board includes: unit test software to test the functionality of all interfaces and memories; a boot loader, which enables the loading of code from an RS232 terminal program, USB or removable memory into SDRAM, NOR and NAND Flash; a Linux board support package (BSP); and Microsoft WinCE.NET 5.0.
As part of the development board package, Beijing Creator and Sharp also offer a library of technical documentation, schematics, data sheets, user guides, and specifications in Simplified Chinese.
This expansive array of technical information helps engineers gain time-to-market advantages.
The evaluation board is available in China directly from Beijing Creator, along with Sharp's full line of BlueStreak MCU and SoC products.
The Sharp-Beijing Creator LH7A404 evaluation board, LCD, and GPS/GPRS modules are available now to Chinese customers.
Other low cost development boards to support Sharp's additional MCUs, including the LH79524/5, will be available from Beijing Creator in the future.
