Sharp puts 82in TFT LCD panel on display

A Sharp Microelectronics product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 8, 2008

Sharp is presenting an 82in TFT LCD panel in portrait format that is equipped with a powerful backlight and a transmissive optical structure.

The product is aimed at the e-signage market, which in Europe is growing at a rate of 62 per cent per year.

The LCD panel supplies a typical light output of 1,500cd/m2 - sufficient to depict digital advertising formats in brilliant images, even in outdoor areas.

The high image quality of the LK816D3LA12 display is based on the full HD resolution with 1080x1920 pixels, the rapid pixel switching time of six milliseconds and the static contrast of 1200:1 with a viewing angle of 176deg in all directions.

The long service life of 60,000 hours permanent operation output reduces maintenance and downtimes to an absolute minimum even when in permanent use - an important aspect with commercial e-signage systems that are usually financed via advertising times.

The LCD panel will be on dispaly at Electronica, 11-14 November.
