Catalyst Semiconductor has launched the first six products in its new family of ultra-small 32- and 16-tap volatile digital potentiometers The Catalyst CAT51xx MiniPot family comprises the smallest 16- and 32-tap digital potentiometers available today

Shipped in 5- and 6-pin SC70 (2 x 2mm) and SOT23 packages, the new devices target space constrained applications where the functions they can perform include LED brightness/LCD contrast adjustments, volume control, gain adjustment, and to replace mechanical trim potentiometers.

Catalyst MiniPots use a two-wire up/down interface.

They operate from a 2.7 to 5.5V single supply and typically consume an ultralow 0.3uA of supply current.

The temperature coefficient is 200ppm/C for the end-to-end resistance and 5ppm/C for the ratiometric resistance.

Glitchless switching between resistor taps ensures a smooth transition when changing wiper positions, and they reset to mid-scale on power-up.

For maximum design flexibility Catalyst MiniPots are available with end-to-end resistance values of 10, 50 and 100kohm.

The 32-tap CAT5110, CAT5118 and CAT5119 are available in 5- and 6-lead SC70 and SOT23 packages, priced at $0.46 in 1000 piece quantities is.

Also available in 5- and 6-lead SC70 and SOT23 packages, the 16-tap CAT5120, CAT5121 and CAT5122 are priced at $0.41 in the same quantities.

Samples are available now with production quantities scheduled to become available during September 2004.

As with all Catalyst devices, the six new MiniPots are available in halogen and lead free environment friendly "green" packages.
