SanDisk has made available 512 megabytes (MB) versions of its miniSD and RS-MMC removable media cards, doubling the maximum capacities currently offered in these popular storage card formats.

miniSD and RS-MMC format storage cards are used in a growing number of data intensive handheld applications such as multimedia mobile phones, digital still and video cameras and personal jukeboxes.

SanDisk is shipping its new higher capacity miniSD cards with an adapter that enables backwards compatibility with any device fitted with a conventional SD card slot.

Likewise, the latest RS-MMC card includes a mechanical extender, so that it can be used in any full-sized MultiMediaCard slot, as well as any SD host devices that support the MultiMediaCard format.

According to Rachael Richards, Product Manager with Spectrum, SanDisks European Sales and Marketing Representative, miniSD and RS-MMC storage cards are the latest SanDisk products to offer new capacity points: "SanDisk recently announced a 4-gigabytes (GB) Memory Stick PRO, a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and 2GB SD card", Richards said.
