Catalyst tops 50 million green packages
Catalyst Semiconductor has shipped its 50 millionth lead- and halogen-free "green" product.
At a time when the electronic components industry could be said to be struggling to meet the lead-free conversion requirements set out by various national and international governing bodies, high-performance analogue/mixed-signal solutions and nonvolatile memory specialist Catalyst Semiconductor has announced that it has shipped its 50 millionth lead- and halogen-free "green" product Catalyst Semiconductor has been in high volume production of lead- and halogen-free packages since Q3 2002

Charge pumps target handheld applications
Catalyst Semiconductor has released a pair of very low noise, regulated output charge pumps that implement a 2MHz constant switching frequency, enabling the use of small 1uF ceramic capacitors.
According to Dan Terry, Director of Global Quality Systems at Catalyst Semiconductor, this a key milestone for the company: "Catalyst embarked on its 'green' initiative almost four years ago", said Terry.
"We've emerged ahead of the field even at a time of an escalating general market trend toward conversion to lead-free products".
Catalyst offers a lead-free option for its entire product offering of Flash memories, serial and parallel EEPROMs with I2C, SPI and Microwire interfaces, and NVRAM; as well as analogue and mixed-signal products such as digitally programmable potentiometers, microcontroller supervisory circuits and white LED drivers.
Catalyst products are used in telecommunications, networking systems, computation, automotive, industrial and consumer markets.
Typical applications include LCDs, automotive instrumentation, optical networks, modems, wireless LANs, network cards, DIMM modules, cellular telephones, digital satellite box receivers, set-top boxes and Internet routers.
Catalyst's quality management system is ISO9001:2000 certified.
