Key features include a choice of in 4, 8, 16 and 32Kbyte of OTP memory, 237byte of general-purpose RAM, up to 32 GPIO and low power consumption of 6mW (typical).
In addition, the new devices offer ease of use and speedy design-in because they are based on the familiar CISC architecture.

The extended functionality and high number of compatible peripheral options provided by the ZGP323 family will reduce the cost of ownership across a variety of applications including automotive, home appliances, educational toys, handheld battery powered devices, industrial control, consumer electronics, communications, lighting control, wireless switches and chimes, and other applications that require high switch, low power, cost efficient I/O devices.
The new ZGP323 devices are available immediately in CDIP, PDIP, SOIC and SSOP packages with 20-, 28-, 40- and 48-pin options.
Coinciding with the launch of the ZGP323 family, Zilog has reinforced its strong commitment to the 8bit microcontroller market and the design community by offering two development kits in support of the devices: The Z8 GP ZGP323 programming system (ZGP32300100ZPR) provides a comprehensive yet inexpensive solution for development needs.
The system includes an OTP programming module, programmer interface, two package adapters, Zilog's ZDS II integrated development environment, a windowed CDIP device, and sample code that demonstrates best-practice embedded design techniques.
Additional resources available in each kit include user manuals, a quick start guide and application notes.
The GP323 emulator (ZGP323ICE01ZEM) is a complete ZDS II-based in-circuit emulator that provides a trace and event system for program debugging.
Trace data can be captured before and after any event - including triggers generated by an external device.
The user can set an event to stop program execution at the point where the program is not performing properly, and is able to see the cycles leading up to and immediately after the event in question.
Once the program is debugged and optimised, the user can either burn code from emulator RAM onto the OTP chip, or load an existing hex file into emulator RAM and burn it onto the chip.
