RAID enclosure takes in more bays
The InfoStation 16-bay 3U RAID enclosure supports the newest Serial ATA drive technology and SCSI Ultra320 host connections.
Enclosure fits ten drives in 1U
A new 1U SCSI backplane enclosure supports up to ten 2.5in SFF (small form factor) SCSI Ultra320 drives and incorporates features that assure flexibility for a variety of configurations.
"Using our 250Gbyte MaXLine drives, the InfoStation with Ultra320 connectivity supplies customers with a 3Tbyte system that they can add on to their servers for midline storage applications such as reference data".
Ultra320 is the latest implemented generation of the SCSI technology, providing the highest SCSI bandwidth for the most demanding server and workstation applications.
StorCase has combined this performance-enhancing technology with the cost-effective SATA technology, a valuable step toward providing a powerful solution-reliable and affordable mass data storage.
For single RAID 5 applications, tests with the new StorCase InfoStation have shown increases of 96 and 241% for read and write performance, respectively, when comparing results using an Ultra160 versus an Ultra320 RAID controller.
This new high-performance InfoStation offers the fastest RAID-protected disk storage, directly addressing the capacity and performance issues that media production applications such as nonlinear editing prioritise so heavily.
StorCase, however, has not increased the price of the InfoStation in order to provide this Ultra320 support.
"Our SATA/Ultra320 InfoStation RAID enclosures provide the marketplace with a compelling price and performance combination previously unavailable with earlier technologies, while the protective environment provided by all InfoStation enclosures assures our customers long-term data availability and reliability", said Adam Greenwood, New Business Development Manager at StorCase Technology.
StorCase InfoStation SCSI Ultra320 backplane enclosure models for SATA drives and RAID applications each include a high-performance RAID controller and incorporate a unique, patent-pending feature that allows the same enclosure to support both PATA and SATA drives.
InfoStation models are also available which support Fibre Channel host interfaces.
