Lead-free assembly line is ready to run
Following the acquisition of another pick and place machine S2S now has a dedicated ready-to-run lead-free assembly line for customers producing lead-free products.
Over the past 6 months trials for products which are lead free have proved a popular exercise in both verification of customer parts lists and S2S production methods The results have been successful and the majority of parts lists have now been converted to lead free for assembly in 2006

Although demand for lead-free production is increasing a number of S2S Electronics' existing customer products are not currently covered within the scope of the RoHS Directive, and so existing production for non-lead-free products continues on the original production lines.
As well as investing in lead-free surface-mount technology S2S has trialled and introduced conventional lead-free assembly for prototype and low-volume production.
This has been introduced to coincide with in house IPC training to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability.
For companies that are looking to test their products for RoHS compliance S2S has a new service available for RoHS "lead-free" compliance testing.
Using state of the art technology already embraced by large manufacturers the company is able to offer an elemental testing service for components, circuit boards or complete electrical and electronic products and offer a single report to either show levels of banned substances or to demonstrate compliance.
This service is charged on a per product basis at a competitive level.
