STATS expands European operations to
France

ST Assembly Test Services has expanded its gallium arsenide capability to support package assembly for integrated circuits on presawn wafers down to a market-leading 4mil thick.
The new office in Evry, France, is the second for STATS in Europe, after the UK.
Located south of Paris, STATS' French office will provide a focal point to service the south European high end mixed signal testing and advanced packaging semiconductor market, particularly in the key markets of France, Italy and Spain.
It will complement STATS' UK office, and leverage the engineering know-how of the Test Development Centre in the UK to support European customers with a complete suite of test design and development solutions.
STATS' VP Sales, Europe/Asia, Choong Chan Yong said: "Outsourcing is gaining momentum as a business model in the European semiconductor industry and we believe the outsourcing of semiconductor test and assembly services there will continue to grow strongly in the longer term.
Europe has a high concentration of fast growing semiconductor multinational corporations and some of the world's largest telecommunications companies.
Our expanded European infrastructure will enable us to meet the diverse requirements of companies in that region".
Steven Bell has been appointed STATS' Southern Europe Manager, heading the office in France.
Bell was previously with Kyocera Fineceramics and NTK Technologies (previously known as NTK Technical Ceramics).
He graduated from Brevet de Technician Superieur, a tertiary institution in France, in sales and management studies.
