Static Control Components manufactures and supplies a range of personnel grounding products including wrist straps and foot grounders and one of the keys parts of these systems is the ground cord.

Because people are one of the greatest sources of static electricity, personnel grounding is a major line of defence in safeguarding static sensitive devices in production areas, says Static Control Components By grounding people their static charges are recombined with opposite charges from the earth as the charges are generated, thus avoiding ESD

Static Control Components manufactures and supplies a range of personnel grounding products including wrist straps and foot grounders and one of the keys parts of these systems is the common ground cord.

The new low profile cord set is less obtrusive in the work area and resists accidental disconnection.

It connects two wrist straps and a work surface to ground and has securing points for permanent fixing to a bench.

A 10mm stud or socket securely fixes the 3.8m long cord to a mat and a ring terminal connects the opposite end to ground.

It is also available with or without a resistor.

This simple but essential device is the cornerstone of effective ESD control.

If a material is conductive then ground it.

If a material is insulative remove it from the production area or make it conductive and ground it.

If it cannot be made conductive or removed then shield it (or consider ionisation).

Most importantly, control the charge on people because they are the most common source of charge and ESD.
