Monitor keeps tabs on static control
measures
A novel constant wrist strap monitor can be used to ensure that ESD control is working by constantly testing the connection integrity of the person, the wristband, the cord and bench mat connections.
Static Control Components' dual-wire constant wrist strap monitor has been designed to ensure that ESD control is working by constantly testing the connection integrity of the person, the wristband, the wrist strap's coiled cord and bench mat connections Moreover it simplifies compliance and record keeping for quality assurance programmes and reduces production costs by eliminating the need to check wrist straps at the start of each shift

Complete system to meet component protection
Static Control Components has developed a system to help companies packaging surface mount electronics devices meet the requirements of the new joint IPC/JEDEC Standard J-STD-033.
The system is automatically activated when a wrist strap is connected to the remote jack point, a green light showing safe conditions and a red light and warning tone signalling unsafe conditions.
Furthermore a low test voltage, 5V, is compatible with sensitive production operations.
It will check the connections of two wrist straps and two mats or benches.
A low-level DC signal constantly looks for a broken or disconnected wrist strap, the signal passing through one wire in the dual wire coiled cord to one side of the wrist band then across the wearer's skin to the other side of the wrist band.
The signal then returns to the monitor through the second wire.
The unit is adjustment free but if a quality programme requires a test procedure then tools that simulate a functional and nonfunctional wrist strap are available for a verification procedure.
