US expansion boosts shielding bag availability

A Static Control Components (Europe) product story

Following expansion by its US-based parent, Static Control Components will soon be offering an expanded and more cost-effective range of static shielding and moisture barrier bags.

The ESD Products Division of Static Control Components (Europe) is Europe's largest supplier of static shielding bags, with stocks of over seven million items at its European headquarters in Reading.

This facility already enables the company to supply products from stock at competitive prices but a new development is set to provide a further boost, as Phillip Fowler, Managing Director of the ESD Products Division explains.

"For some time now we have been able to supply over 150 standard sizes of static shielding and moisture barrier bag from stock.

Weekly shipments from our parent in Sanford, North Carolina, USA ensure that our stock levels are maintained.

An additional 5400m2 of manufacturing space, adjacent to the Sanford, North Carolina bag conversion plant has been created to provide coating, laminating, and slitting of fabric, film and foil structures in widths up to 2m".

"It enables us to control the entire process from raw materials to finished goods thus making SCC one of the only moisture barrier and shielding bag manufacturers in the world to be able to do this.

Furthermore the benefits of speed, price and quality will be passed on to the European market".

The development is the result of a relationship formed between the company and John Jaran, former founder and President of Web Technologies and now President of JJ Converting.

Michael Swartz, President of SCC's ESD Products Division, says, "This new alliance enables SCC to enjoy all the benefits of a captive film source and reduces new product development lead time.

It will prove invaluable in helping maintain our primary focus which is providing our customers with competitive prices, high product quality, and customer service and support".
