The new service has halved the time to tool up to produce initial samples and has also halved the time to make ready for full production compared to local manufacture.

This has been achieved through working closely with an overseas production facility in the Far East.

The operational move has had the effect of providing competitive tooling and piece part prices, together with short lead times.

The manufacturing facility was initially set up to allow the CCTV division of Stortech Electronics to make plastic housings for its own weatherproof cameras and PIR detectors.

It was then quickly realised that Stortech's customers could benefit from the fast plastic injection moulding facility in order to make a wide variety of affordable housings and cases.

The new service means that Stortech can now offer volume production and fast manufacture of customised plastic housings for a variety of security products from domes to camera and power supply housings.

But it doesn't end there, as the facility is not just limited to security products.

Being a custom service, any casings and mouldings can be manufactured to order.

The process has been set up to be responsive to change and can adapt quickly with speed and flexibility to any alterations.

With careful, detailed and advanced planning, the time from tooling up to final product is minimised.

In most cases, standard ABS commercial grade plastic is used but customers can state their own material requirements.
