Little Big Box is a robust, easy-to-use and compact RAID storage unit with special appeal to electronics system designers and builders.
These RAID-protected storage systems are designed to be rugged (they use extruded aluminium case and no internal cable connections), easy-to-use (they are configured simply from switches) and compact (the basic unit, giving up to 150Gbyte of protected space, fits into a standard 5.25in full height disk slot, including discs and controller electronics).
Hundreds of units are used on a variety of servers and workstations on Windows NT, Macintosh, Sun, Silicon Graphics and other processors.
Protected capacity goes up to 375Gbyte.
The external interface is LVD UltraSCSI (80Mbyte/s bus).
Internally Little Big Box uses modern IDE discs to give high capacity, reliability and cost-effective pricing.
RAID levels 5, 4 and 0 are supported, and read/write sustained speeds are 30Mbyte/s.
Springtek has announced substantial price reductions for the Little Big Box family, with effect from 1st March 2001, reflecting the reductions in prices of computer hard disks in the past few months.
Recommended retail prices range from GBP1645 to 6495 (+ VAT), depending on configuration.
