Multimedia processor brings JoY to the 3.5G world

LG Electronics has used Nomadik multimedia application processor technology, together with the pre-integrated S60 Platform in its first S60 phone, called JoY.

LG Electronics has selected ST's award-winning Nomadik multimedia application processor technology, together with ST's pre-integrated S60 Platform, for LG's first S60 phone, called JoY.

The JoY is a stylish new 3.5G HSDPA smartphone that uses the latest Third Edition Feature Pack 1 for S60, which is the world's leading smartphone software platform.

ST has many years experience in developing S60 platforms based on its Nomadik family of application processors, and is supplying LG with a complete hardware platform, including the Nomadik application processor with stacked 1Gbit NAND and 512Mbit mobile DDR DRAM memory, together with the company's single-chip Bluetooth STLC2500C EDR (enhanced datarate) device, plus the STW4810 energy management IC.
