Frugal op amps reduce battery demands
Rail-to-rail high gain bandwidth product op-amps feature excellent speed-to-current consumption ratio and come in space-saving packages.
STMicroelectronics has introduced two new families of rail-to-rail high gain bandwidth product (GBP) op-amps that feature an excellent speed-to-current consumption ratio and come in space-saving packages to address sensor signal conditioning as well as battery-supplied and compact portable applications.
The TSV911/2/4 family offers an 8MHz gain-bandwidth product and is unity-gain stable for capacitive loads up to 200pF.
The other family, the TSV991/2/4, offers a 20MHz gain-bandwidth product for gain of 3 or above.
Operating from 2.5 to 5.5V, all the devices consume only 780uA at 2.5V supply voltage.
The op-amps' low power, together with their improved precision and the reduced die size, make them ideal for battery-powered applications where space board and low-current consumption are major priorities.
Other key features of all op amps include an ultralow input bias current of 1pA and 5kV or better internal protection that protects against electrostatic discharge (ESD), minimising handling and fabrication risks.
All of the amplifiers are characterised for the -40 to +125C temperature range and are available in SOT23-5, SO8, MSO8, TSSOP14 and SO14 Ecopack packages.
In production now, in quantities of 1000 pieces, the TSV911/TSV991, TSV912/TSV992 and TSV914/TSV994 cost US $0.36, $0.62 and $0.96, respectively.
