Strongbox has a new range of instrument racks incorporating many new design features that improve system flexibility, maximise the cable aperture access space for the rack width and make baying simpler and more efficient In addition, the new design concept increases manufacturing flexibility reducing both price and production lead times

In the new Strongbox rack system the basic rack frame, which is all steel and of welded construction, forms the foundation unit for a wide range of rack sizes and types.

They are available as standard in a choice of widths from 600 and 800mm, in heights from 27 to 56U and in depths from 600 to 900mm.

The flexible design means that other sizes can be provided quickly and economically.

To aid user flexibility, the rack strips, equipment support system and cable management system are all mechanically independent and the horizontal and vertical components are clip and screw fixed so that they can be easily adjusted with no compromise in strength and rigidity.

Unusable space at the sides of the rack is reduced to optimise working areas.

Improvements have been made to the cable access system that maximises the cable entrance area allowing smoother transition of cable forms.

Also, two alternative baying methods are provided.

In addition to standard fixing positions in the rack uprights, additional concealed knockout holes are fitted to both the top and base of the rack and these provide alternative fixing positions making it less likely that the rack baying screws are fouled by cable and equipment.

The roof area of the rack has also been redesigned to create extra space and this means that fan cassette trays can accommodate thicker fans that provide increased performance and higher flow rates against high system pressure.

The basic rack design can be figured in two ways.

The standard configuration has a fixed recess depth at the front of the rack and door closure angles at the rear while the second has a variable front access depth, adjustable from 25 to 75mm, so the rack can be fitted with front and rear doors of various types.

The base is designed so that heavy-duty casters can be factory or retro fitted and acoustic versions can also be supplied.

The increased manufacturing flexibility that this new design provides means that most popular sizes of these extremely competitively priced racks can be dispatched within 48 hours from the new Strongbox state-of-the-art factory at Houghton Regis.
