Microcontrollers ramp up the speed

Sunrise Electronics has faster clocking versions of key products in NEC's extensive portfolio of single chip microcontrollers.
Microcontrollers in NEC's successful 8bit 78K0 family, previously available with speeds up to 8.38MHz are now available with speed options up to 12MHz.
They integrate CPU, ROM, RAM and peripheral functions on chip with a range of memory options such as Flash and OTP and on-chip peripherals such as built-in A/D convertors, full-duplex UARTs and I2C bus interface.
This family of devices is used extensively in home electric appliances as well as communications equipment, including cordless telephones and pagers.
Thanks to their high electromagnetic immunity some of the controllers in this family are also ideal for automotive applications.
At the same time, some of the devices in the cost-effective 8bit 78K0S family with extremely low power consumption now offer speed options up to 10MHz (formerly 5MHz).
Many 78K0S designs are higher performance replacements for traditional 4bit designs and the higher speed options will increase performance still further.
Again they integrate CPU and a choice of memory types and peripheral options on chip.
