Sunrise Electronics has a new starter kit for developers working with NEC's successful V850 RISC architecture microcontroller family.

StartWare V850E/IA1 is a new starter kit tailored for evaluation of the V850 architecture using the V850E/IA1.

It is a compact and readily usable stand-alone tool supporting real time execution of application programs with the capability for optional host PC and universal target hardware connection.

The package comes fully complete with external RAM and Flash memory on board as well as serial interface and parallel I/O supporting fast-turnaround working.

The evaluation board carries a 32bit V850E/IA1 RISC CPU supporting operational speeds of 20, 40 or 48MHz.

In addition to 10Kbyte internal RAM and 256Kbyte internal Flash the hardware has 256K x 16bit external SRAM and 256K x 16bit of external Flash memory.

The board provides several external Interfaces for application development, including CAN I/F with CAN driver devices on board, two UART interfaces (RS232), a CSI serial interface for Flash programming and a motor control interface.

Displays include a two-digit by seven-segment display, LED and power-on indication.

In addition to a reset button and NMI button, user programmable DIP switches add further flexibility in evaluation options.

Onboard power supplies deliver the required supply voltages of 3.3, 5 and 7.8V.

NEC's StartWare package can be delivered optionally with either the Green Hills Multi or the IAR Embedded Workbench.

Both development platforms provide integrated development environments to ensure smooth application program development and debugging of user's application programs.
