A new free-of-charge reference design aids the implementation of Ethernet solutions in a broad range of integrated applications based on the NEC V850 series 32bt RISC microcontroller.

Sunrise Electronics has a free-of-charge reference design for the implementation of Ethernet solutions in a broad range of integrated applications based on the NEC V850 series 32bt RISC microcontroller.

V850 Ethernet is a connectivity reference design, complete with software, providing a very low-cost Ethernet solution with embedded Internet functionality.

NEC's V850 family of 32bit RISC microcontrollers includes members with an extensive choice of peripheral options suitable for a wide range of applications.

The availability of an Ethernet reference design allows developers easily to integrate this capability into new or existing system designs.

The reference design is based on the V850/SB1 32bit RISC microcontroller, and can easily be ported to any other member of the NEC V850 family.

It supports both serial and 10Mbit/s Ethernet connectivity.

The reference design can easily be configured for use with V850 devices used in single chip or memory expansion mode.

For highly integrated and cost sensitive designs, mask programmed variants of many of the V850 family devices are also available.

Included in the reference design are full schematics, bill of materials, Gerber files, board support package (with all drivers), Flash programming libraries and a time-limited version of CMX-Micronet TCP/IP software from CMX Systems.
