LCD panels advance to sample stage
Sample shipments have now started for two different 21.3in QXGA TFT LCD modules and a UXGA TFT LCD module.
Sample shipments have now started for two different 21.3in QXGA TFT LCD modules and a UXGA TFT LCD module.
The three modules broaden the existing NEC LCD product line into professional monitor applications demanding high information content and ultra-wide viewing angle such as workstations and monitors.
The NL204153BC21-02 is a colour display with QXGA resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixel, capable of displaying images of up to 16 million colours.
It has a luminance of 235cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 500:1 and a fast response time of only 25ms.
The equivalent monochrome model, NL204153BM21-01 features the same high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, displays 766 steps per pixel (256 steps per subpixel) and has a luminance of 800cd/m2, contrast ration of 700:1 and a response time of only 30ms.
The third display is another monochrome module.
The NL160120BM27-03 has a UXGA resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixel, displays 766 steps per pixel and also has a luminance of 800cd/m2, contrast ration of 700:1 and a response time of only 30ms.
Super-Advanced SFT (based on IPS) technology achieves a wide viewing angle of 170 degrees on all three models.
These display modules measure 457 x 350mm overall, but the narrow bezel gives a large screen area of 433 x 324mm (equivalent to 21.3in diagonal).
They are rated for operation from 0 to +55C and accept industry standard LVDS digital data.
NEC LCD Technologies' SFT technology, based on in-plane switching (IPS) ultrawide-viewing-angle technology, is one of NEC's core LCD technologies.
Since introducing its SFT technology, NEC LCD Technologies has made continual strides to improve its feature set.
Each generation of the technology has resulted in further evolution of features.
In the progression from SFT to Advanced SFT (A-SFT), NEC succeeded in increasing module response time two-fold and minimising colour shift when changing viewing direction.
Now in moving from A-SFT to SA-SFT, NEC has substantially improved panel transmissivity enabling reductions in power consumption and raising of brightness levels.
