Connectors support user upgrades
The PICe series is engineered to facilitate precision pin alignment on the motherboard as well as accurate contact registration on the mating daughtercard.
Sullins Connector Solutions has expanded its range of 1mm edgecard connectors to include a full series of PCI Express (PCIe) parts.
Designed to conform to PCI-SIG specifications, the devices enable user upgrades and bandwidth support to implement PCIe technology for desktop PCs and server systems.
Featuring slots accepting 1.58mm thick add-on cards, the edgecard connector series consists of six connectors with 1 to 32 high-speed serial PCIe lanes, each matching different bandwidth capabilities.
These one-piece high-density connectors enable maximum PCB design flexibility and low-cost board assembly processes.
The parts are offered with 36 (x1), 64 (x4), 98 (x8) and 164 (x16) contact positions in right-angle/straddle mount versions, as well as in vertical/through-hole styles with 230 (x24) and 280 (x32) positions to support riser card applications The vertical/through-hole versions may be ordered with a choice of three tail (contact) lengths (2.30, 2.54 and 3.00mm) to accommodate differing motherboard thicknesses.
The right angle/saddle-mount devices are also available with attached ear clips or pegs.
The serial lanes are comprised of two differential wire pairs which support a data transfer rate of 2.5Gbit/s in each direction.
Enabling hot plug and hot swap functionality, Sullins' PCIe series is suitable for dense packaging applications.
They are engineered to facilitate precision pin alignment on the motherboard as well as accurate contact registration on the mating daughtercard.
