Hot-swap controller protects distributed power
The SMH4802 is a fully integrated programmable hot swap controller for -48V power supplies.
UCSP packaging provides a footprint exactly equal to the area of the chip itself, making it ideal for highly compact handheld equipment and for all other applications where space is at a premium.
Summit's UCSP products offer the highest level of hermeticity with the industry-standard designation of "moisture sensitivity level 1" (MSL-1).
It is also available lead-free as an option.
This means that with Summit, users make no compromises in obtaining compactness, reliability and environmental friendliness.
Summit's highly programmable, mixed-signal design capability is already widely recognised by enterprise and networking users, industrial users, and in the consumer world.
Its products such as the award-winning SMM665 six-channel precision voltage controller (AnalogZone product of the year) have been adopted by the most demanding users for board-level point-of-load (POL) power management.
High-volume users, such as in the consumer space, have also found Summit's products to offer a unique blend of programmability and precision control.
With ultra-chip-scale packaging, these products fit well into their compact systems.
The S9518E with UCSP brings the power of Summit's S9518 nonvolatile DACPOT to the most space-constrained applications such as handheld wireless equipment.
It has debounced up and down switch inputs with "clickless" transition between settings.
It can be set to "remember" the wiper setting when power is shut off, thereby seamlessly restoring its setting when the system is next powered up.
These features make it ideal for user control of display brightness or audio volume in cellphones, PDAs, MP3 players and other handheld equipment - and have the setting conveniently return to user-set conditions automatically, even on cold restart after battery replacement.
Available in volume quantities today, the S9518E in ultra-chip-scale package is priced at $0.66 in 10,000-unit quantities and is stepped with quantity down to $0.48 at million-unit cumulative quantity.
