Sunpower has added two new special product series to its AC/DC product line from Mean Well Enterprises - the CLG-100 and PLN-100 series Both series are switching power supplies with active PFC for LED lighting applications

These limited power sources comply with UL1310 Class 2, that under any situation the output power will remain less than 100VA or 5A.

This will significantly reduce the hazardous conditions exposed to technicians who execute the construction/maintenance of LED lighting systems.

The high IP level design (IP67 for CLG-100 series and IP64 for PLN-100 Series) can protect the electronic components against dust and moisture damage making them useable for indoor and outdoor locations.

The CLG-100 series is totally waterproof and can even be immersed in the water to depths up to 1m.

Thanks to the leading edge ZCS/ZVS technology the efficiency of CLG-100 and PLN-100 is as high as 87%, and hence can operate between -30 and +70C using only free air convection.

Standard functions include short circuit, overload, overvoltage and overtemperature protection, and both ranges are equipped with two 18AWG power cables as the connection of input and output terminals.

The CLG-100 is targeted at applications requiring harsh operating conditions and uses the aluminium enclosure to enhance the mechanical strength; the PLN-100 with its adjustable output voltage/current level uses a fully enclosed plastic case and targets applications that require lower levels of waterproofing.

Typical applications for these new Class 2 power units include general outdoor usage, moving signs and backlighting, LED-based decorative/architectural lighting, LED stage and theatre lighting, and LED electronic displays.
