New from Supertex is the HV00LG hot-swap controller, negative supply IC, in an 8-lead SOIC package.

It provides complete control of the power supply connection for systems that are always powered on, but require insertion or removal of cards or modules without power disturbance.

Applications include server, telecommunications and emerging VoIP systems constructed in large racks.

The new design topology of the HV300LG provides inrush current limiting, short circuit protection, and generation of a 'power good' status signal while solutions from other vendors require costly and bulky external components.

The Supertex HV300LG solves design headaches and reduces system costs by using very few external parts, while providing load independent timing control and freedom from nuisance tripping of circuit breakers.

Unwanted tripping in existing equipment causes costly repairs and customer service calls.

The HV300LG uses the Supertex HVCMOS high voltage process and a newly invented circuit topology, and is intended for -48 up to -100V supplies.

The HV300LG has an active-high status output, while HV310LG has an active-low status output to meet existing system design requirements.
