DSP subsystem speeds access solution development
Surf Communication Solutions has announced the upcoming availability of its SurfRider-144T family of access solutions aimed at OEM equipment requiring modem, VoIP and FoIP services.
All applications use the Surf 3G 324M protocol to ensure comprehensive support for 3G handsets without requiring installation of client software.
The video surveillance solutions developed by Intellistream use the Surf PCI DSP card to access CCTV cameras from mobile handsets, enabling convenient, real-time, round-the-clock observation.
The SurfAce-112/PCI is a fully integrated universal PCI-compliant (32bit/33MHz) half-size PCI form-factor DSP resource board, compatible with a wide range of host platforms and supplied with multiple drivers and a variety of interfaces, including 100Mbit/s Ethernet.
It is supplied with SurfWare-Media, Surf's telecomms-ready media processing software that facilitates development of media gateway and media server applications by offering simultaneous support for multimedia convergence - voice, video, fax and modem - all running on a single DSP.
"Intellistream selected Surf's technology for its 3G-324M video support, which enabled us to deliver the most appropriate video format to any 3G mobile handset, this ensured we could reach the broadest possible customer base", says Jani Peltonen, CTO of Intellistream.
"In addition, Surf's PCI DSP boards were extremely easy to integrate, and the Surf team's quick response time and high level of commitment greatly reduced our time to market, allowing us to realise an almost immediate return on investment".
"We are pleased to be selected as Intellistream's DSP supplier", says Jeremy Lange, Surf's Sales Director, Global Accounts.
"These two projects demonstrate how Surf's rich multimedia processing package, with its 3G video processing capabilities, provides our customers with cost-effective, scalable and comprehensive solutions for a variety of telecom applications".
