A Bluetooth solution from Silicon Wave is being used in Intel's Digital Motor Coach to demonstrate coexistence between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless technologies.

The Digital Motor Coach features hands-on demonstrations highlighting Intel's latest desktop and mobile platforms and wireless connectivity solutions.

Silicon Wave's Bluetooth solution is part of the Intel Wireless Coexistence System and is fully compatible with Intel Centrino mobile technology.

The Digital Motor Coach is on display at the Intel Developer Forum in San Jose until 19th September.

"Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless technologies are rapidly being integrated into PCs, so it is critical that we minimise interference issues", said Scott Richardson, General Manager of Intel.

"Silicon Wave is a leader in the Bluetooth market, so it was natural for us to work with them to develop the Intel Wireless Coexistence System".

The Intel Digital Motor Coach is the first certified Wi-Fi hotspot on wheels.

It includes a two-way satellite broadband connection allowing for 56Kbyte/s uplink and up to 400Kbyte/s download.

The highly automated motor coach is equipped with a variety of networked devices including a video camera, lighting and entertainment system, and washer/dryer that can be controlled by any Intel platform via a web interface.

"Silicon Wave has been at the forefront of developing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless coexistence solutions", said Malachi Bierstein, Technical Marketing Manager for Silicon Wave.

"The Intel Digital Motor Coach demonstration gives us an opportunity to showcase the results of our work with Intel".
