According to Dataquest, Synplicity grew its worldwide FPGA synthesis market share lead in 2001 by 9% over the previous year In Dataquest's recent EDA Market Trends report, Synplicity's share of the FPGA synthesis market was 54% in 2001, compared with 45% in 2000

Synplicity believes its continued growth within the FPGA synthesis market is due to the company's expansion in the Asian market, continued development of leading-edge FPGA synthesis products, and continued adoption of its products by leading companies worldwide.

During the past year, Flextronics, Mindspeed, Siemens ICN and Toshiba DMS have all announced they have standardised on Synplicity's fast and easy-to-use synthesis products for FPGA design.

"The market's adoption of Synplicity's FPGA synthesis tools has again increased.

We believe the latest Dataquest figures, which show we have more than doubled our market share in the past two years, can be attributed to our considerable resource investment worldwide, particularly in Asia", said Bernard Aronson, President and CEO of Synplicity.

"With the increase in the complexity of programmable logic devices and the popularity of programmable SoC devices, we believe powerful FPGA synthesis tools will be essential.

Through the continued development of best-in-class FPGA synthesis technologies, we believe we can continue to gain market share at the expense of our competitors".

Gary Smith, chief EDA analyst at Dataquest and main author of the Dataquest EDA market report, forecasts a CAGR of 10.9% for the FPGA synthesis market through 2006.

Synplicity believes its tools will be well positioned to meet this demand.

Dataquest's annual market share and forecast report titled, "EDA 2002: the automation of RTL design", was compiled using a variety of data sources including Dataquest research, EDA vendor-submitted responses and detailed end-user surveys.

Synplicity's leadership position was based on 2001 license revenues for the Synplify, Synplify Pro and Amplify Physical Optimizer solutions.
