The latest version of Synplify Pro synthesis software provides full support for Xilinx's Virtex-4 FPGAs.

The latest version of Synplify Pro synthesis software provides full support for Xilinx's Virtex-4 FPGAs.

Synplicity's Synplify Pro synthesis tool provides timing-driven synthesis for Virtex-4 devices, offering reduced area (cost) optimisation once timing performance goals are met.

Several other enhancements have been added to the latest version of the Synplify Pro software to improve device performance.

"The new Virtex-4 family of FPGAs is a revolutionary step in programmable device architecture, technology and system design capability, and we recognise that optimised design tools must be available to our customers in order for the unprecedented design capacity of Virtex-4 to be fully realised", said Steve Lass, Director of Software Product Marketing at Xilinx.

"Because Synplicity is committed to such advanced levels of innovation in the FPGA industry, we work closely with Synplicity to provide our mutual customers with best-in-class synthesis support that is needed to design today's advanced FPGA devices".

"Because we understand many FPGA designers quickly adopt the latest FPGA technology, it is important that we provide high-quality EDA support for these leading-edge devices as soon as they become available", said Jeff Garrison, Director of Marketing for FPGA Products at Synplicity.

"With this latest version of our Synplify Pro software, we believe Virtex-4 designers will get the best quality of results and technical support for FPGA synthesis".

Synplify 7.7 is available now.
