SynQor has expanded its Giga family of eighth-brick DC/DC convertors with the addition of a 75W/12V output device.

The convertor is capable of delivering up to 6.25A of output current and is ideally suited to power downstream POL convertors in intermediate bus architecture (IBA) applications.

The PQ60120EGL07 convertor uses synchronous rectification and SynQor's patented topology to achieve extremely high efficiency, low power dissipation and high reliability, in a single board, open-frame package with industry standard pinout and footprint.

Covering the full telecomms input voltage range of 35-75V, and operating at an efficiency of 91%, this open frame device can supply its full rated output current of 6.25A up to 55C ambient with just 1m/s of forced air cooling.

The performance level of this device enables it to be used in applications where previously only quarter brick packages could meet the power requirements.

The device is capable of withstanding input transients of up to 100V/100ms, and incorporates basic isolation from input to output of 2000V DC.

Control and protection features include remote sense, input UVLO, output voltage trim (+10%/-20%) output OVP, current limit, short circuit, and thermal shutdown.

Sample and production quantities are available immediately with a stock to 8-week lead-time.

The modules are priced at $42.30 in OEM quantities.
