Telecomms convertor delivers top power rating

A SynQor Europe product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 14, 2008

Open-frame DC/DC convertor boasts the highest output power currently available in the marketplace for a half-brick device.

New from SynQor, the PQ60120HZA50 is a half-brick open-frame DC/DC convertor that offers a regulated output of 12V up to a maximum rating of 50A from the full telecomms input voltage range of 35-75V.

Targeting intermediate bus architectures, the device offers the highest output power currently available in the marketplace for a half-brick device.

Employing SynQor's patented topology, and making use of the latest high performance components, the PQ60120HZA50 delivers the maximum 50A rating at up to 95% efficiency.

Half load efficiency performance is even greater at 96.5%.

This exceptional performance maximises the available output power of the open frame unit under typical operating conditions, delivering for example up to 36A in a 55C ambient with just 1m/s airflow.

For extended temperature operation, or to provide the full 600W rated power of the device, an optional encased unit is also available to enable the use of a heatsink, or for attachment to a cold plate.

The PQ60120HZA50 is capable of withstanding transients on the input to 100V for 100ms, and has a basic isolation level from input to output of 2250V DC.

Control and protection features include remote sense, an ultrawide output voltage trim range of -50% to +5%, input undervoltage lockout, output OVP, current limit, short circuit protection and thermal shutdown.

Operating temperature range is -40 to +100C.

The unit is also fully RoHS 6/6 compliant.

Sample and production quantities are available immediately with a stock to 12 week lead-time.

The PQ60120HZA50 is priced at US $110 in 1000-piece quantities.
