Synad has begun demonstrating its Mercury5G dual mode chipset for 802.11a, b and g wireless standards.

Synad has begun demonstrating its Mercury5G dual mode chipset for 802.11a, b and g wireless standards.

Mercury5G is based on Synad's AgileRF technology, devised by Synad to deliver interoperability between the three 802.11 standards without compromising data throughput, range or performance.

The AgileRF technology enables dynamic monitoring and switching between 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g, without loss of connectivity to the user, to whichever access point provides the optimum service.

"Synad defined the term dual-band WLAN and has developed a solution from the ground up.

Our early lead in this market has enabled us to develop a highly integrated and optimised dual-band solution and customer response shows clear demand for a solution that enables the user to be standards agnostic", said Mike Baker, CEO, Synad.

Featuring a Mercury5G mini-PCI card in a Windows based laptop PC environment the demonstration showcases Synad's end to end capability and total solution, from NDIS based drivers through to the form factored reference design including the chipset.

The demonstration highlights Mercury5G interoperability between the 5GHz 802.11a and 2.4GHz 802.11b and 802.11g standards with data transfer across both bands including high quality video streaming.

Mercury5G is standards compliant and this is illustrated through operation with third party access points as well as Mercury5G based cards.
