Inova Semiconductors is launching its new Multimedia Evaluation Board just in time for demonstration at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Multimedia Evaluation Board demonstrates the integrated transfer of uncompressed HD video, audio and USB2.0 over distances of more than 35m by using only one standard STP Ethernet-type cable.
The set of boards, powered by Inova Semiconductors' Gigastar digital display link chips, is prepared for the adaptation to all video and display interface standards such as DVI, LVDS or digital RGB up to 720p/1080i (or SXGA/UXGA), as well as supporting all DDC/EDID functionality.
In addition there are interfaces to S/P-DIF analogue and digital audio.
Through the integration of Icron's ExtremeUSB technology it is possible to expand the popular Universal Serial Bus USB2.0 and enable a wide variety of multimedia applications, eg for KVM-extension for multimedia PCs, PVRs, home theatres or long-distance human-machine-interfacing in the industrial and medical fields.
The USB is true plug-and-play and there are no drivers required.
Inova Semiconductors' Gigastar technology has achieved major advancements in digital visualisation and infotainment systems replacing countless analogue solutions currently being used - an enormous emerging market segment stimulated by the rapid drop in cost of digital flat panel TFT displays.
The "digital display link (DDL)", a Gigastar based solution for long distance display links, is currently being used in a wide array of digital signage applications, modern passenger information systems, interactive remote terminals (human machine interface), video broadcasting systems in hotels, buildings and offices, and high resolution camera surveillance systems.
The Multimedia Evaluation Board demo set will be exhibited by Icron at the CES show in Las Vegas next month.
The Multimedia Evaluation Board will be available from Symmetry Electronics, the official distributor for Inova Semiconductors products in North America as well as on SemiconductorStore.com, Symmetry's award-winning e-commerce website.
