High-voltage radial-lead capacitors extend to 5kV, and custom designs for specialist applications up to 10kV can be supplied.

Not all electronics applications are moving towards smaller low-power products In many industries, the demand for high-voltage components, particularly for power supplies, is increasing

High-voltage power supplies are essential in a growing range of specialised equipment in the telecomms, communications, military, aerospace and medical sectors.

For long-term reliability and product continuity reasons, many traditional and new designs are manufactured using conventional through-hole assembly techniques.

Manufacturers continue to require leaded devices such as radial-lead capacitors, yet they also need to comply with new regulations such as the RoHS Directive.

UK capacitor manufacturer Syfer Technology is a leading supplier of high-voltage and high-capacitance radial-lead devices, not only RoHS compliant, but many with CECC approvals too.

The range featured in the latest catalogue extends to 5kV, but Syfer offers custom designs for specialist applications up to 10kV, if required.

Such high voltage parts are essential for some medical equipment, for example, such as X-ray systems.

Standard ranges are supplied with tin terminations, and all internal solder joints are lead-free.

RoHS compliant parts are clearly labelled with a C42 suffix.

For applications currently exempt from the RoHS Directive, such as aerospace equipment, and where there are concerns about the risks of tin whiskers, tin-lead wire versions are available from Syfer.

All devices in all the ranges can be assembled on to boards using both conventional wave soldering, and also the higher temperature lead-free wave soldering techniques.

Available in both X7R and ultrastable C0G dielectrics, capacitance ranges are 100pF to 4.7mF and 3.9pF to 180nF, respectively.

Syfer is the only European supplier of CECC approved radial lead capacitors, often mandatory for European aerospace applications.

Prices are particularly competitive, and depend on capacitance, voltage and quantity ordered.

All catalogue parts are readily available in production volumes from the UK factory, based in Norwich, Norfolk, on lead times from 4 weeks.
