Hanford of Synopsis wins Women in EDA

Deirdre Hanford, senior vice president, Business and Market Development, Synopsys, will receive the second annual Marie R Pistilli Women in EDA Achievement Award.

Deirdre Hanford, senior vice president, Business and Market Development, Synopsys, will receive the second annual Marie R Pistilli Women in EDA Achievement Award The award recognises an individual's outstanding contributions and commitment to the advancement of women in the electronic design automation (EDA) industry

It will be presented as part of the Workshop for Women in Design Automation on Sunday 17th June 2001, and as part of the general session on Tuesday 19th June 2001.

Hanford, who joined Synopsys in 1987, was the eighth employee and first applications engineer in the company.

Since then, Hanford has performed myriad duties, including vice president of Professional Services Sales Development and vice president of Applications Engineering, Design Tools Group.

Outside her work at Synopsys, Hanford serves as a board member of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network and continues to volunteer at local science fairs.

"Deirdre was chosen for this award because of her pioneering leadership and dedicated commitment to serving the design community", said Mar Hershenson, chief executive officer of Barcelona Design, and chair of the Workshop for Women in Design Automation.

"She is one of the most accomplished and well-respected women in our industry".
