Cypress Semiconductor has signed a multiyear agreement to consolidate its digital IC design flows and methodologies using Synopsys' Galaxy Design Platform.
Cypress will deploy the Galaxy Design Platform for RTL synthesis, design-for-test (DFT), design planning, place-and-route, timing and signal integrity sign-off, extraction, and automatic test pattern generation (ATPG).
"Our goal is to achieve first silicon success on time and within budget by deploying a design system able to consistently deliver the required performance with predictable time to results", said Paul Keswick, Executive Vice President of New Product Development at Cypress.
"We all know the adage 'time is money', and schedule slips on a key product can cost several million dollars in lost revenue".
"By standardising on the proven Synopsys Galaxy Design Platform, we now have a design flow delivering predictable time-to-results across different design styles".
"We were able to reduce our total design time by as much as five weeks using Synopsys' Galaxy design platform", added Nagendra Cherukupalli, Vice President of Asia Pacific Design Centres and Chip Integration at Cypress.
"In order to eliminate uncertainties and achieve first silicon success, the entire design platform needs to be correlated to signoff".
"The Galaxy Design Platform offers superior correlation to sign-off, allowing us to focus our efforts on design innovation and delivering first silicon on time".
"At Synopsys, we recognise predictability, productivity, and performance are three key attributes of any successful design platform that enable the design community to bring innovative products to market quickly and cost effectively", stated Antun Domic, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Implementation Group at Synopsys.
"We, therefore, focus our efforts on ensuring that our Galaxy Design Platform continues to deliver optimal performance and faster time to results while minimising all uncertainties through unmatched correlation to signoff".
"We look forward to working with Cypress to deploy the benefits of the Galaxy platform in all their digital IC design projects".
