Sypris Electronics has added rapid prototyping to its portfolio of electronics manufacturing services.

Sypris Electronics has added rapid prototyping to its portfolio of electronics manufacturing services.

Rapid prototyping is the design and manufacturing of validation units used in an engineering laboratory environment or for the pre-engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of a programme.

Sypris Electronics' rapid prototype capability reduces the interval time required from the design phase to the manufacturing and delivery of prototype hardware, while allowing the customer to quickly react to unanticipated market demands and opportunities.

"Recently, we have successfully provided two prominent aerospace and defence customers with rapid prototype services", said Dave Lingenfelter, Rapid Prototype Programme Manager at Sypris Electronics.

"In one instance, assemblies were delivered to the customer within 24 hours of receipt of material".

"Sypris Electronics was also able to identify and report inconsistencies in drawings, predict potential problems during full-scale production and recommend manufacturability improvements".

Bob Sanders, President of Sypris Electronics, stated: "Our rapid prototype process is a critical step to ensuring that an assembly meets the customer's performance expectations, while continually adhering to cost and schedule commitments".

"Sypris Electronics' rapid prototype process is another illustration of how Sypris Electronics is continuing its dedication to strategically partner with customers to ensure high quality products and exemplary customer satisfaction".
